In the course "Psychosociological and pedagogical approaches of newmedia ", the postgraduate students deal, through presentations and experiential workshops, with issues related to the theories, knowledge, skills and abilities required for the use and the interpretation of the new means of communication as well as issues concerning the study and application of the newmeans of communication for pedagogical purposes.
In the context of a socio-psychological approach to the newmeans of communication, the course simultaneously seeks a more general knowledge of the social, economic and historica lcontext, within which the texts of these new technologies are produced, distributed and used by the various categories of the public. As media literacy (old and new) by definition involves the ability to "read" and "write" the media, the course's educational activities during the semester include theory presentations and study of the recommended literature. Τeachers, colleagues from other universities, new media professionals as well as artists are invited to present their new mediawork and work together with students, with the ultimate goal of developing both a critical understanding of new media, as well as their active participation in them. The evaluation is carried out based on active participation in the course, the presentation and theoretical analysis of a media text chosen by the postgraduate students in consultation with the teachers, as well as the design of a literacy activity in the new media for primary school students or secondary education.
