Iro Voulgari works as a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Department of Preschool Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Digital Games (game-based learning), Learning Technologies, and Research Methods. She is collaborating with the Institute of Digital Games at the University of Malta, focusing on the development of scientific thinking and education about Artificial Intelligence through digital games.
She holds a degree in Pedagogy from the Department of Preschool Education at Democritus University of Thrace, a Master's degree in Education from the University of Leeds, UK (M.Ed. in Information Technology, Multimedia and Education), and a Doctoral Degree from the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education at the University of Patras. Her thesis was on "Massively Multiplayer Online Games and Learning."
She has worked on research and development projects related to the design, development, and evaluation of educational digital environments and applications, and the implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education. She has participated in the organization of international conferences, seminars, and workshops on topics related to digital games, digital storytelling, and the use of ICT in education. Her research interests include learning and teaching through digital games, digital game literacy, and research in the field of game studies.
