Dimitris Metafas was born in Piraeus, Greece in 1964. He obtained his Diploma degree with honors, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece in 1987 and 1993, respectively.
From 1995 to 2006 he was working in INTRACOM S. A. in the management of Research and Development projects in the area of Microelectronics, System-On-a-Chip (SoC) application specific processors design, Embedded Systems design, Real-Time software development, and Multi-service Networks Content Delivery Systems.
From 2003 to 2011 he was Assistant Professor of Athens Information Technology Center of Excellence (AIT), head of the Embedded Systems Lab.
From 2011 is a Lecturer and from 2015 is an Assistant Professor in Piraeus University of Applied Sciences, Dpt. of Electronics. He teaches the courses of “Programming”, “Object-oriented Programming”, “Digital Design” and the post-graduate courses of “Real-time Embedded Systems Programming” and “Object-oriented Programming”. He is also a professor in the post-graduate program “Information and Communication Technologies for Education” where he teaches the post-graduate courses of “E-learning Systems and technologies for Education” and “Introduction to modern Programming Platforms”.
His expertise is in Real-Time Software development, System-On-a-Chip design, DSP architectures, Hardware/Software co-development methodologies, and Multi-service Networks Content Delivery Systems. His current research interests include embedded systems for Broadband services, Sensor Networks, Content Distribution Networks, and Design Frameworks for Computer Games.
Dimitris Metafas is a member of the Hellenic Game Developers Association, he has participated in a number of game developing projects and he is teaching short professional courses on the field of Game Design and Technologies.
He is author/co-author of more than 30 papers in International Journals and Conferences.
